Across the strait
This is where most mainland scripts give themselves away in Taiwan.
Taiwan writes 軟體 where the mainland writes 软件 for software, 影片 rather than 视频 for video, 網路 rather than 网络 for network. A character conversion turns Simplified into Traditional and leaves all of that untouched, so the text looks right and reads as foreign. Checking the technology and business vocabulary is what makes a script Taiwanese.
Schools in Taiwan teach reading with Zhuyin, the Bopomofo symbols, rather than with Pinyin, and a handful of standard pronunciations differ from the mainland as a result. The accent is softer on the retroflex sounds too, which is the first thing a listener notices.
How it works
Use Traditional characters, fix the vocabulary, check the names, export.
They are the standard in Taiwan for everything published, and they are what these voices are matched to.
Technology, business and everyday terms are where the two standards diverge most. A converted script keeps the mainland words unless they are changed deliberately.
Chinese groups numbers in units of ten thousand, so an important figure written in characters removes any question about how it is read.
Take MP3 for a podcast or an announcement, or build visuals and subtitles here and export a 1080p MP4.
