Writing for an Urdu voice
Four things decided in the script, before any voice is chosen.
Urdu script marks long vowels and leaves the short ones out, which is why the same spelling can be read more than one way. Most of the time context carries it. Where it does not, usually on a name or a technical term, the fix is to respell the word phonetically in the script rather than to change the voice.
Urdu can reach for a Persian word or a common Hindustani one for the same idea, and the choice sets the tone. Formal news and corporate copy lean Persian and Arabic; conversational video and advertising do not. An audience reads an over-formal script as distance, and no voice setting undoes that.
Pakistani Urdu absorbs English freely for anything technical: mobile, computer, account, delivery. Written in Urdu script they are read as Urdu words and sound natural. Left in Latin letters mid-sentence they flip the engine into English pronunciation and break the rhythm.
Formal Urdu prose runs long, with clauses stacked before the verb arrives at the end. An engine reads that in one unbroken span and it comes out flat. Breaking it into shorter sentences, one idea each, improves the read more than switching voices does.

Before you paste a script
Two problems account for nearly every bad Urdu read, and both are fixed in the text.
Most Pakistanis type Urdu in Roman script, and Nastaliq is what to paste. Every online Urdu keyboard converts it in seconds, and once the text is in Urdu script the same sentence reads cleanly, borrowed English words included.
Spoken Urdu and Hindi are close enough to be the same language in conversation, and the registers pull apart in writing: Urdu reaches for Persian and Arabic vocabulary, Hindi for Sanskrit. A Pakistani audience hears an Indian Urdu voice as foreign, and the word choice gives it away before the accent does. The voices on this page are ur-PK.
How it works
Convert the script, test a line, fix the numbers, export.
Nastaliq, not Roman. This single step does more for the result than every other adjustment combined, and it takes a minute with any Urdu keyboard.
Use the box at the top of this page with a sentence that contains your hardest words, usually a brand name, a place and a number. What survives that line will survive the script.
Rupee amounts, lakh and crore, and dates all read better spelled out than abbreviated. Keep one numeral system through the script rather than mixing ۱۲۳ with 123 inside a line, which is where the right-to-left order breaks.
Download audio for a podcast, a lesson or a phone line, or add visuals and Urdu subtitles here and export a 1080p MP4 from the same script.
