Choosing from a large library

Too many voices is its own problem

With this many options, the useful question is which to rule out first.

General American is a broadcast standard, not a region

The accent most US voices use belongs to no particular place. It was shaped by national broadcasting to sound unplaced, which is why it reads as neutral to American listeners and as simply American to everyone else. Southern, New York and Upper Midwest voices exist as character choices, and they carry associations the moment they open, so they are a decision rather than a default.

US Spanish is its own market

Spanish-language media produced in the United States is an industry of its own, and the accent is neither Mexican nor Castilian. This page lists US Spanish voices alongside the English ones because American campaigns are routinely produced in both, and building them from one project keeps the timing matched to the same visuals.

How it works

Picking an American voice without listening to all of them

Narrow by job, test on one line, check the names, export.

Step 1

Start from the job, not the voice

Advertising wants energy, e-learning wants steadiness over forty minutes, and phone systems want clarity over character. Those three rule out most of the library immediately.

Step 2

Test the shortlist on one real line

Use a sentence from your actual script, with its brand name and its numbers, rather than a sample line. Many of the voices here have samples, and the rest generate instantly in the box at the top of this page.

Step 3

Check the numbers read the way you say them

Phone numbers, dollar amounts, years and addresses are where an otherwise clean read goes wrong. 2026 can be two thousand twenty six or twenty twenty six, and the script decides which.

Step 4

Export audio or a finished video

Download MP3 for podcasts, courses and phone systems, or build visuals and captions here and export a 1080p MP4 from the same script.
